The original mansard-roofed villa underwent extensive reconstruction in the late phase of socialism. The redevelopment corresponding to the time significantly changed the identity of the house. It is currently used as a company headquarters, but its parameters do not meet the current requirements in terms of any function. After considering all the circumstances, we have decided to continue the evolution and the trend of radical reconstruction. We have unified the house with a contemporary layer, which, however, makes it possible to read its previous phases.
The proposal addresses light comfort improvement, increases capacity and most importantly refines the overall functioning of the house. We considered the design on a long-term scale to make it as adaptable as possible for housing or other functions. The variability of the open layouts is supported by the relocation of the staircase to the centre as well as the tech-transparent character of the interior. Newly established connection to the garden is also very important. A regular grid of generous windows allows views of both the greenery and the city. The elegant dark blue colour of the frames complements the grey shades of the plaster. The loft-style superstructure differs subtly in both the material and the scale of the window openings.
