The purpose of the reconstruction and extension of unused cinema is to create a social background, especially for the pupils of primary school, but also for the public. The project also includes redesign of rental housing in the upper floors and revitalisation of nearby public spaces.

The key aspects are openness, variability and (semi) public space. The main principles of the approach are naturality and sobriety. Sensitive reconstruction leads to maximal flexibility of operation/functions and both literal and symbolic openness of the building. The proposal accentuates connection of the building with the exterior and contextually sensitive work with surrounding public space and garden. Moderate architectural interventions reveal current and future potential of the building while creating a dignified, welcoming building, without denying current character and history of it or its surrounding.
